As the end of 2019 is rapidly approaching, there’s no better time to talk about tech trends in recruitment. Undoubtably, harnessing the power of technology is a brilliant way to power your business growth, but with so much choice out there, how do you know where to start?  Here’s four top tips to help you focus on what your recruitment agency needs.

  1. Align your strategies

Having a tech strategy aligned to your business strategy is absolutely fundamental, otherwise you will end up with a lot of shiny new tools but they won’t integrate and actually add any value to your business.

For example, if you want to improve team productivity then investing in the latest version of Microsoft could be a quick win. And you might want to utilise cloud-based technologies so that your field-based consultants can quickly and securely access your systems whilst out on the road.

  1. Ask your team

Your team will have loads of ideas about how to make their jobs easier! Find out what jobs take the most time every day and that will help you to see where technology could bring about efficiencies.  Are they spending a lot of time putting the same information in to different systems for example? Do they spend hours chasing contractors for timesheets?  These are great ways to save your team time every day and there are some great products to help do exactly that.

  1. Ask your customers

Your clients and candidates are the life-blood your business and are a valuable asset as somebody who knows your business well, but who hasn’t got any internal issues or politics to cloud their judgement. They will be a great resource for fresh ideas about how they would like to work more efficiently with you. Your candidates could talk through improved ways to sign up for roles, joining your agency and accepting a new role.  And your clients could have invaluable insights in to ways that you could work more effectively together – ultimately leading to you being able to do more business with them. Win-win!

  1. Look at what you do well…and do more of it

There will be elements of your recruitment business that you do really well – so to power your business growth, take a look at ways you could do more of that! If you’ve got some fantastic clients in a particular sector and you have an exclusive deal for their contractors, don’t let lack of technology solutions hold you back from scaling this successful area of your agency.  Investing in back office systems allows you to scale your business without increasing your staffing costs.

Investing in technology is undoubtedly going to give you a brilliant platform to achieve unprecedented levels of growth in your agency.  These steps will help you to make sure you’re really thinking about what your business needs so that you don’t end up with a bunch of tech that won’t grow your business.
